Audit Chamber says sees no reason for 2% GDP growth in 2017
MOSCOW, Jun 21 (PRIME) -- There are no preconditions for Russia’s gross domestic product (GDP) to advance 2% in 2017, like it was projected by the Economic Development Ministry, Audit Chamber Chairwoman Tatyana Golikova said late on Tuesday, adding that the chamber keeps its forecast at 1.5-1.6%.
“We have been discussing with our colleagues from the government the issue of a newly announced economic growth projection of 2% in 2017. This is a disputable issue, because according to preliminary statistics of the Federal State Statistics Service, we had a 0.5% growth in the first quarter,” Golikova said in an interview with television channel Rossiya 24.
“This means that we must advance over 2% in the second to fourth quarters to provide 2% annually.”
The official said that higher economic development would be great, but she sees not real reasons for it.
